As an artist as well - I like to consider myself one (ex-ballerina and a ballet teacher) - I truly believe that all artists are entrepreneurs and live and breath their branding. Think about a dancer or a singer. They are on stage "selling" their product (their skills and abilities), they "act" taking in consideration their fans and followers (they need a reputation), they also need to be on top of their best to survive (competition is hard) and they build a career and a business that need to generate income. This Monday, David Bowie leave us. If you are a huge fan, just know him or one of his musics, doesn't matter because my focus here is trying to convincing you that he was a great entrepreneur like us. Maybe you will agree straight away or maybe we have to agree in disagree. It is up to you! Just have fun and excuse my grammar mistakes :) David Bowie started as an alien. He wore wigs, make up and dresses. People saw him as a lunatic – in the beginning of his career. But, Bowie was a true entrepreneur in my opinion. A quick Google search says: Entrepreneur is a noun and means “a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit”. And Business Dictionary says: "Someone who exercises initiative by organizing a venture to take benefit of an opportunity and, as the decision maker, decides what, how, and how much of a good or service will be produced." Why in my opinion David Bowie was an entrepreneur in his industry? Read More He loved his art. He was passionate and truly committed with his vision. He believed! He innovated. Bowie sang aliens, heroes, lovers. He had the first download song through the internet in 1996, in 1997, he invented Bowie Bonds allowing people to invested in his earnings and in 1998, created BowieNet, the first artist-created internet service provider. He was a pioneer. He created personas to “sell” his music. Do you know Ziggy Stardust? And the previous example about selling and connecting through internet is an excellent example. He was creative. He worked with surrealism, experimentation, new techniques. He tested his followers, his industry, researched new ways to promote himself. He was open for changes and challenges without compromise himself - his career reach over 6 decades. He lived in UK, USA, Germany, Switzerland, France, and he reinvented himself many times. He was up for a challenger. He influenced fashion, art and culture in general, sexuality (he said he was bisexual in 1972), music and cinema, he took part at Live Aid, free Tibet. He was voted the biggest music start of the 20th century (by The Sun), the 6th Greatest Start of the Century (by Q Magazine) and the 3rd highest-ranking start who was still alive in 1999. He created partnership (long partnerships) and networking with his colleagues. Lou Reed, Iggy and The Stooges, John Lennon, Brian Eno, Mick Jagger, Sonic Youth, Placebo, Foo Fighters, to name a few. He tried. Very hard! Cinema and music. He learned new techniques, he discovered new ways to sell his art and reinvented himself (branding). He created collaborations and switch styles when necessary (maybe not a survival technique but a maturity as a person, as a man). He flirted with fashion when wore Alexander McQueen or started using 80’s pad shoulders outfits, fabulous hair and makeup, spectacular stage presentation and cinema performance. He had failures and mistakes for sure. However he learned from it when he reinvented himself. He had a Plan. Definitely. He though and planned his steps during his career. And as people are saying, even his goodbye - Blackstar is a parting gift for his fans. Everybody is finding clues on "Lazarus" and the producer confirmed that Bowie had planned video and message in his final message. NME said “Released only four days ago, the video for single ‘Lazarus’ was Bowie’s parting shot, opening with a blindfolded, fragile-looking Bowie laying in bed. His first words “look up here, I’m in heaven/I’ve got scars that can’t be seen” are now obviously an admission of his ill health, rather than just a fantastical musing on mortality. It soon becomes obvious that the bed he's in is a hospital one and Bowie begins to float above it, signifying his transmutation to the other side – whatever, or wherever that may be. Watching it now, it’s a statement as bold as it is bleak”. Read More Daily Mail “Final album Blackstar, released on Friday, seen as singer's 'parting gift'. Read More The Rolling Stones Magazine mentioned Tony Visconti, Bowie’s collaborator, “He made Blackstart for us, his parting gift. A work of Art” Read More Telegraph said “ Brian Eno: 'I realise now he was saying goodbye” Good Bye David Bowie! Last picture for Blackstar.

Blogging is something that you should take seriously if you want to grow your business/brand. Blogging is becoming a necessary tool on your marketing campaign because it will work in a very positive way to get your business to the top – not only on Google ranking. Let me give you some reasons for that. Blogging is an easy platform to connect with your customers, sharing relevant information and affecting massively your SEO. The most important on my opinion, it is a straight channel to communicate with your customers/world to get your point across and express yourself. Many people read blogs because they connect with those bloggers and want to hear what they say and other’s views on things and topics or an “authority” in a specific topic. Blogging is only as hard as you make it. There are so many new apps and tools that become available to bloggers to ensure that your work is going to be great. Whether they are promotion tools, or tracking tools, any of them will permit you to keep track of your blog and market it better than ever. Creating a blog is an important step and you should prepare a plan for that. It will involve generating content and preparing a schedule for posting that resonates your business and your brand. Make good choices when you are deciding what you are blogging – depending on your product or service, you would have an extra concern if you are not prepared. Customers usually recognize a brand and their voice on Social Media and it would be a smart decision if you have valuable content – and sharing on your Social Media. Another very important point is the search engine. SEO loves valuable content because bring links and traffic to your website and it will boost your search results. Using long- tail keywords and phrases that people usually use when searching is the right answer to create effective content that answered those questions and that brings the reader/customers. But why sharing on social media? Google takes social media sharing into account to rank your website. So, when you produce content and share on Facebook, Twitter and general Social Media, Google recognizes and this have an impact on your ranking. So if you have a valuable content that is shared on Social Media by others, it would generate positive traffic for you. Blogging is a good way to get ahead of the competition as well. Google is a place for fierce competition. A place where every single day thousands of websites are searched by Google that cut through all of them to focus on the best content – and with all this competition, blogging is an easy answer. As you can see, it is very important blogging. Open your laptop and start writing. However, do not forget to have a plan and a structure. Number one concern here is quality. Maybe you do not know, but I was a ballerina and still teaching ballet nowadays on my spare time. So when I watched this video "Meet The Dancing Prodigy Who Turned Down Harvard" from Seeker Stories, immediately I knew that I have to share her story of resilience and perseverance. And how she works through visualization to achieve her goals. Her interview will help you boosting your positive energy and I hope it will inspiring you as much as have inspired me. Rio Anderson has talent and she is a prodigy - not only as a ballerina but as a student accepted on Harvard in 2015 - pretty much THE American university to be - that she declined to continue her career in Ballet. Rio started taking ballet seriously from the age of 14 and based on my personal experience, I can guarantee that she definitely has a lot of talent because usually you should start ballet seriously at age 6-8 and need an amount of preparation and development ballet skills that takes years to be done to achieve the perfection needed. She had accomplished it through frustration and emotional distress - the other girls were younger and much better than her (she explain on 0:44 sec that she was at the bathroom crying) - and of course, quitting were on her mind all the time. My personal note: Ballet is hard and you cannot improve quickly because depend of your body response and this is so hard to get it - does not depend on you and your wish. You have to work and work to get ready to work twice next time and one day, your body just accepted your wish. And it is so amazing when she said that to be accepted in the ballet is much more difficult than Harvard (01:30 sec) because this gives you an idea how hard is dancing ballet and being an ballerina. When she started talking about her routine (strategy) and how she use visualization (get in the zone) to achieve her goals, makes me think about my business routine. Through Rio training routine, she can "zone" and working on her preparation - with music and visualize her ballet routines. Not quoting her because I really want you taking 4 minutes and listen to her interview, she says that visualization is really important because helps her to see what she likes the performance to be and truly amazing her answer about success; she says that "success can come" if you work hard and believe - she started at the bottom of her class and now she is one of the best American ballerinas - she loves how challenging ballet is and "the improvement that you see is directly proportional to what you put in. You decided how hard you work and you decided how much better you get. And it is all on you. That independence and control is really satisfying" - A truly entrepreneurs mantra, don't you agree? So, visualizing your ideas, your wishes, creating a positive environment to prepare your future pathways, being positive and believe in yourself. You can do it! We can do it together! Positive thinking is not a religious thing - we are talking about feeling good and having a mental and emotional attitude that brings the bright side of life to expect positive results. It is anticipating happiness, health and success and believing that we can overcome obstacles. It could be effective if you believe. I would like to thank you Seeker Network and Seeker Stories for bringing Rio's story. Having trouble on focusing in your business future? Feeling lost or overwhelmed?
